Ingo Maurer was an enthusiastic German industrial designer, fondly called as poet of light. He was a pioneer in light design and installations. He was so fascinated with technology that he made quirky, artful lights with common materials or scraps, like broken crockery, feathered wings, etc. Every creation has an interesting story behind it, and a peculiar and memorable name to go with it. Mozzkito refers to the nocturnal insect, mosquito. He created the table lamp in 1996, again using a very common household material tea strainer. It is still displayed at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Ingo Maurer Mozzkito Table lamp has a minimal design that can be defined by simple geometric shapes and lines. A tea strainer resembling a sphere holds a small halogen light source in the center, and very thin lines of metal radiate from the surface outward. It is slantly connected to a square base plate using a thin linear metal rod. Originally placed at a 60-degree angle, the slant can be adjusted using a bendable connection between the base plate and the centerpiece. The lamp also works with an LED light source. It is dimmable using the cord dimmer with slider and comes with an electronic transformer. This highly creative, inventive lamp will be the center of attention wherever you place it. Ideally suited for living rooms, bedrooms, it can be placed away from you but bent to throw light where you want. So, without worrying about space, it can be placed on shelves, near long desks, etc. and still be used for reading, writing, or other activities.
