Louis Poulsen has always strived to design lights by influencing the light form. Following in his path, ivind Slaatto, a Danish designer, created the Louis Poulsen Patera Pendant Lamp. He draws inspiration from music and nature for all his artistry. He wants people to experience and enjoy light, like how they would with music. He endeavors to enhance it with his works. His fascination for the spiral pattern found in nature e.g. pine cone, seed in sunflower led him to create this lamp.
Louis Poulsen Patera Pendant Lamp is based on the Fibonacci sequence. It gives a contemporary twist to the archetypal chandelier lighting. This novel idea is an ingenious crossover between mathematics and modern art. Slatto himself considered it to be his most complex creations.
The globe-shaped lamp has a fascinating design and detail. It is made up of tiny diamond-shaped cells. Each cell captures the light from the illuminant and shines softly. These matt-cut cells give the feel of a crystal to the observer. Above 45 degrees, illuminant inside lies hidden. Below 45 degrees, the light projects brightly downwards. Through an opening on top, a small beam of light gleams upward. The positioning of the cells provides a glare-free, 360-degree illumination to the surroundings. The lamp gives a diverse experience when seen from various angles. The striking design makes it a perfect lighting for any indoor or outdoor setting. It is light-weight and easy to install by hand.
