Joseph Ma Tremoleda and Joseph Ma Massana, are pioneers of industrial design in Barcelona. They collaborated with Mariano Ferrer to establishMobles 114, a furniture and interior design studio, in 1973. Their design always emphasizes the objects usefulness. In 1978, they designed a lamp using the Flexo lamp popular in the 1950s as a benchmark. It was a period when simplicity and resourcefulness of a product held significance. The lamp has a minimalist design andadaptability. It was rightly named Gira, which means turn, in French. Now, considered a classic, it is recreated by Santa Cole as Santa & Cole Gira Table Lamp.

The Santa & Cole Gira Table Lamp can be described geometrically, with its three vital components a square steel base, a linear brass arm, and a conical aluminium shade. Though the design is simple, there is nothing trivial about its performance and functionality. It has a rotating arm to change the direction of light and an adjustable shade to alter the focus of light. It isavailable with three color variants black anodized aluminium, naturalanodized aluminium, and brass. The arm is chrome plated and contrasts with the shade. The power cord runs through a recess in the arm, hidden from plain view. The grey steel base is strong, durable,and stabilizes the lamp at various angles. This adaptable design accentuates the co-existence of an object and user, in any environmental setting.
